Millbrook Middle School teacher receives grant from Bright House Networks | News
Bright House Networks recently awarded a Bright Futures Educator Grant to Yvette Johnson of Millbrook Middle School. Bright Futures, launched in January of 2009, is designed to be an on-going program that assists teachers in acquiring classroom tools and resources. Grants are available to educators who teach K-12 curriculum at schools located within the Bright House Networks service area. Recipients are awarded up to $500 to assist their efforts to move students forward to a bright future through educational learning.
Ms. Johnson submitted a proposal that would allow her to buy additional books for the school library. The school just completed a renovation and expansion of the library. That extra space created a need for additional books in the library. This grant will provide additional resources to purchase the books.
“We are excited to provide the additional resources for the school’s library” states Scott Horne, VP/GM Bright House Networks. “We are aware of the financial picture surrounding our educational budgets in our school systems. We are proud to be able to make these grants available to fill the potential loss of classroom resources.”
This program is an ongoing program. Teachers are encouraged to continue submitting applications and project summaries for considerations. Since the program’s inception in 2009, the Bright Futures Educator’s Grant program has issues over $10,000.00 in grants to educators in the State of Alabama.
